What’s included in your online lesson?
Some online lessons from other instructors simply refer you to a library of pre-produced training videos that relate to your particular swing issue. Our approach is uniquely individual to each student. Herman will take your video clips and load them in his swing analysis software where he will personally provide a detailed analysis with lines, graphics and voiceover to highlight opportunities for improvement while also providing examples of pro swings where applicable. Next, Herman will get on camera and give you a customized training plan with personal demonstration of what to work on in your swing. It’s as if you are right on the lesson tee with Herman in person … we’ve had great results.
Steps to Getting Your Online Golf Lesson With Herman
1. Create Your Golf Swing Video – (individual short clips of each swing)
2. Email Herman for invoice link for digital payment
3. Email the appropriate video files or links and brief golf background info to Herman for review
Once all three steps are completed, Herman will email you to confirm that your video has been received and is in line to be evaluated.
Follow these detailed steps for an Online Golf Lesson with Herman
Step 1: Create Your Golf Swing Video
Capture one swing each with a mid-iron & driver from the “front view” (FV) and from the “down-the-line” view (DTL). Back view behind the player is helpful if you can get it, but not required. Also get a close-up shot front view of your grip using video or a still photo.
Be mindful of your video length. Video creates very large file sizes – swings should ideally be less than 2 seconds each with very little extra film time if possible and each swing should be a separate individual video clip. Also take care when recording your swing to ensure the best results for the online lesson. The better your video quality, the better your analysis will be. Camera positioning, lighting, shutter speed, etc. are all very important.
If you are filming with a mobile phone or tablet, hold the device horizontally in “landscape” mode to get the best video for golf analysis. Camera should be inline with player’s hands for down-the-line or face-on video clips. Filming with phones and tablets in a vertical position leads to tall, skinny videos that leave too much space in the foreground and makes for a poor fit in our swing software and the final production for your private YouTube video. Also in the narrow, vertical portrait mode, the clubhead tends to swing offscreen impeding our ability to analyze its position.

Video clips from mobile phones can likely be emailed directly. Otherwise prepare video files for emailing or sharing via YouTube video, Google Drive or Dropbox.
You can “Google” instructions for YouTube, Google Drive or Dropbox setup and upload if you don’t have an active account. If you are attaching raw swing files to email, keep in mind file attachment sizes are typically limited to 10 -25 mb by most email providers and may require file conversion or compression or simply send one clip per email in order to fit the file limit. Double check the links for your attachments to be sure they work … you would be surprised how many bad links we receive which just further delays the process.
Step 2: Contact Us by Email with Your Lesson Request
Email Herman to request online lesson. He may want to quickly review your swing clips to be sure the quality is adequate for analysis. He will then send send over digital invoice for credit card payment. Once payment is complete, send over all video files for analysis and we will get you in line for your custom analysis. Step 3. Send Video files and description of swing history
Include a short description of what you would like Herman to look at for your lesson. Just give a brief explanation of what you struggle with, what you are working on, shot patterns (left, right, hi, lo, etc.) typical scores, how long you have played, any physical limitations you may have and which hand is your dominant hand. (i.e. Are you right-handed but playing left-handed golf or vice versa?)
Your completed analysis will be sent back to you as an unlisted YouTube video which only you have access to, unless you choose to share the link with others. Normal turnaround for online lessons is about one week but is also dependent on the number of customers already inline.
